At the beginning of 2015 KÜHME offered Chinese Man An Shan Iron & Steel Group, Coke plant, located in Anhui Province three (3) ATEX double block and bleed valve combination devices (Sizing DN 25, DN100 and DN 300) for coke gas purification and Claus Sulphur recovery process.

The DN 300 valve combination KVII/F-KVII/F is used as the main emergency shut-off device (ESD) installed in the sour gas pipeline in front of the burner from reaction furnace. Since the sour gas contains high percentage of aggressive components including H2S and HCN, as well as more than 50% of moisture, the harsh condition requires a highest standard of valve material. Because of that high corrosion exposure the life-time of the old existing Butterfly valve was only max. 3 month. The plant operator was limited due to force outage for replace this critical valve. The plant operator approach KÜHME for a valve upgrade with the target to significantly extend life-time of the critical valve equipment up to 12 months and to reduce forced outages accordingly. As the top special valve manufacturer, KÜHME designedly selects globe valve type instead of butterfly valve in order to ensure better tightness and reliability.

By using stainless steel 1.4408 / A351-CF8M with the special PTFE Coating on the internal body surface the valve can withstand the abrasion of sour gas for a long time. For a higher protection the PTFE Coating covers also the front surface of each body flange. The internals are made out of stainless steel 1.4571. KÜHME valves are known for the highest standard of seat tightness. To ensure this we equipped the plug with a soft sealing. Together with a closing time of less than 1 second this emergency shut-off device (ESD) is a class of its own.

For the single control of the coke gas burner KÜHME additionally deliver a double block and bleed valve combination KVII/F-KVII/FS DN 100 PN16. The second valve of the combination is a combined quick closing and regulating valve. The feature is the actuator control unit which ensures that during normal operation the regulating function is activated and in case of an emergency the quick closing function will be activated  with Zero leakage (even better than the leakage class ANSI VI).
